A Perfect Day in Paris’s 6ème Arrondissement

A Perfect Day in Paris’s 6ème Arrondissement

Paris is a city best explored on foot, and there’s no better place to wander than the 6ème Arrondissement, home to timeless cafés, charming boutiques, and the iconic Boulevard Saint-Germain. Since Res Ipsa’s Paris home is at 200 Bd. Saint-Germain, we spend most of our time in this neighborhood. Sure, you can’t go wrong with Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore, but they’re on every list and there is usually a line. Instead, we’ve perfected the ultimate itinerary for a perfect day in the 6ème.

Where to Stay

L’Hôtel – The last home of Oscar Wilde and one of the most luxurious boutique hotels in Paris, L’Hôtel is a hidden gem. With its intimate atmosphere, stunning interiors, and impeccable service, it’s the ideal base for your stay in the 6ème.

Where to Eat & Drink

Morning Coffee at Binôme – Start your day with a rich espresso and a perfectly flaky pain au chocolat at this cozy café.

Lunch at Le Petit Chaise – As the oldest restaurant in Paris, Le Petit Chaise is steeped in history and serves up classic French dishes in an intimate setting. The onion soup and duck confit are timeless favorites.

Afternoon Snack at YABAÏ SANDO – Owned by our friend Walter, this spot serves the best Japanese-style sandwiches in town. Go for the tuna sando on charcoal bread with a side of sweet potato fries—pure perfection.

Afternoon Matcha Latte at Ralph’s Coffee – Take a break from exploring with a creamy, well-balanced matcha latte at Ralph’s Coffee. The courtyard setting makes it a perfect spot to recharge.

Dinner at Comptoir du Relais – A must-visit bistro that delivers on every level. The escargots are the best we’ve ever had, the service is warm and inviting, and the menu is filled with modern interpretations of French classics. Book a table early—this place is always buzzing.

Gelato at Il Gelato del Marchese – Right across from Comptoir du Relais, this gelateria serves what we believe is the best pistachio gelato in Paris. The secret? It’s practically just ground pistachios.

Drinks at Bar Joséphine – Located in the Hôtel Lutetia, this elegant bar pays tribute to the great Joséphine Baker. Their Negronis are near perfection—balanced, smooth, and just the right amount of bitter.

What to Do

Morning Jog at Jardin du Luxembourg – Start your day with a run through one of Paris’s most beautiful parks. Spot the Americans—they’re the intense ones sprinting between the fountains and tree-lined paths. We have no chill.

Shopping at Res Ipsa – Stop by our boutique at 200 Bd. Saint-Germain to browse our collection of handcrafted footwear, bags, and accessories. Each piece is designed with timeless style and quality craftsmanship in mind.

Shopping at Marin Montagut – A dreamy boutique filled with Parisian charm. We love their candles, especially Bonjour Normandie, which smells like a fresh tomato vine in the French countryside.

Explore Deyrolle – A surreal shop that’s part museum, part boutique. Deyrolle is famous for its taxidermied oddities and stunning natural curiosities. A must-visit for lovers of the unusual.

Stock Up at Monoprix – Imagine if Target and Whole Foods had a stylish French baby. Monoprix is the ultimate stop for everything from groceries to chic fashion finds.

Whether you’re sipping coffee at Binôme, browsing the treasures at Marin Montagut, or savoring escargots at Comptoir du Relais, the 6ème Arrondissement has an undeniable magic. We love it here—and we think you will too.
