Women's babouche Slipper 7-7
Description:
Our Babouche Slippers are handmade in our atelier from repurposed boucherouite rugs. These unique 50-to-100-year-old rugs are handwoven by members of the Berber tribe in the High Atlas mountain just outside Marrakech. Ourika boucherouite rugs are handwoven for use in the home using undyed organic wool with Berber motifs. We source vintage rugs and then make them into one-of-a-kind slippers. Each pair features a true leather sole with a thin, raised rubber heel.
The origin of the Moroccan babouche slipper can be traced back to the Arabic 'babush' or the Persian 'papush.' This distinctive design, characterized by an open-back sandal style, is said to be a reflection of the luxurious lifestyles led by its wearers, often including monarchs and 17th-century French courtiers.
Our babouche slipper pairs well with almost any wardrobe — inside and outside of your home. Each pair is lightweight and can easily slip on to get out the door in seconds. Wear them casually with a pair of crochet pant and linen camp shirt. We enjoy wearing them on the daily inside — and sometimes even for an evening out — paired with vintage 501 denim (tag) or a dress.
