Crochet Camp Shirt #4

$395.00

Description:

Our Crochet Camp Shirt is handmade in our atelier from crocheted yarn that was pieced together by our co-op of 50+ women on the outskirts of Marrakech. It takes up to one week to crochet enough fabric for one piece. Each shirt features a boxy fit, straight shoulders, and frontal buttons.

Each crochet camp shirt is one-of-a-kind and a celebration of Moroccan craftsmanship and style. The camp shirt style is a classic American style, but our shirt adds a touch of Moroccan flair with its intricate crochet details, which makes it a truly unique and special piece. The camp shirt styles dates back to the 19th century in Cuba, the Philippines, and Mexico. In Cuba, the camp shirt style was related closely to the ‘Guayabera’, a relaxed work shirt with a loose fitting collar. The lightweight work shirts were worn by farmers to keep cool outdoors and through warmer conditions.

In the 1950's and 60's, Cuban immigrants arriving in New York and Miami introduced the style to North America. At the time of its introduction, the camp collar shirt was so unlike other dress shirts worn by Americans. Read the brief history on the camp shirt style here.

Each shirt can be styled for formal or casual occasions. Each camp shirt is a colorful conversation starter. We recommend you style our crochet camp shirt by pairing it with our camp shorts or crochet pants.
